生活中每個人總是會發現形形色色各種不同的環境污染，但由于學習的壓力，對于這些身外之事常常難以傾注更多的精力去思考和認識。不妨借答題機會，仔細回顧一下，就會發現有些環境問題著實需要認真解決。

Candidate 1: I live in a poor downtown, and nearly no industry exists there. So I aways feel environmental problem is far away from me. But reality changes my opinion.

Around my city is a lovely river. Long time ago the water of the river was clean and I also swam in it with my friends. But the water pollution occured when I was in high school. The river suddenly changed beyond recognition. We could never see the bottom of it as the color of the water turned yellowish-brown, which smelled bad. None of the fish was left. Morevover, the plants besides the river died ominously(不祥地). It meant that if I wanted to see clean pure river, I must ride for about three hours to catch the natural scene, which was undoubtedly a terrible experience. Fortunately, we finally found the cause of polution. It was said that there was an iron mine in the origin of the river, and the miners used the water to wash the iron ore(鐵礦). We were so angry about their action that we returned to some environment institutions. Later the problem was
finally resolved.

From this experience I realize pollution indeed has a bad effect on people's life. After the river was contaminated, people couldn't wash their clothes in it any longer, and this added to(增添，增加) their inconvenience. Isn't is time for us to take good care of our environment? I think environmental protection is an issue as long as industries exist. Sadly, we haven't reached the stage in which industries won't cause any pollution in the process of production. What should we do to protect the environment? Well, do as what you do to protect your own houses and your own eyes.

Candidate 2: In recent years, it is more frequent for Qingdao to be stricken with sandstorms. In some spring days when waking up in mornings, we can see the yellow sky with wind full of dust which used to be a clear blue one. Moreover, cars which were cleaned up not long ago dirtier again. Exposed to(使暴露) the pulluted air, we have no choice but to breathe as less as possible for fear of breathing in some dust detrimental(有害的) to our health.

After Beijing and other cities was reported to suffer severe sandstorms, Qingdao has such disastrous weather from time to time. As residents in this coastal city, we should be fully responsible for it. Just looking at the chimneys surrounded by black gas, the cars followed with grey tails, without any doubt, we are the culprits(犯人，嫌疑犯) and so, we are the victims in return. What's worse, it's one thing to be aware of protecting the environment; it's another to carry it out. Few of us are willing to take a cut in the economic profit or endure inconveniences in life for the sake of the air quality or even spreading the notion of environmental protection but for the sake of the air quality or even spreading the notion of environmental protection but to stimulate more people to take immediate action even commence with tiny things. Anyway, many a little makes a mickle(積少成多) and let's just do it together form now on.
