　　對于一個社會來說，發展藝術也是非常必要的。藝術能cut across racial, cultural, social, educational and economic barriers，所以能夠幫助exchange culture, enhance cultural appreciation and awareness。生活在其中的人們也會be more tolerant and open。

　　很多的手藝都是一門藝術，能工巧匠們用靈動的雙手給我們留下了無數的藝術瑰寶。artisan們可以化腐朽為神奇，wood, clay, glass, textile, metal等到了他們的手里，都成了一件件精美的handicraft。今天的pottery, earthenware, lace-making, shoemaking, weaving, knitting, floral design, paper cutting, seal-cutting, wood carving, stone carving都是這些藝術家們留給我們的寶貴文化財產。

　　但是這些folk art, traditional skill正在逐漸的消失，有不少還become extinct。對于一個國家來說，這將是一個非常嚴重的損失。tourism industry會受到影響，人們也少了很多的leisure activity。更為重要的是，這些藝術都是intangible cultural heritage，都maintain the character and culture, mark an area as special。

　　當務之急，政府一定要take steps對這些文化遺產做好有效的保護。所以，保護措施也是烤鴨們進考場之前一定要準備好的內容之一。如果來preserve the traditional skills, safeguard intangible cultural heritage，使得這些技能得以be passed down。skills training是非常重要的，要encourage a better understanding，讓更多的孩子了解這些藝術。還要給folk artisan提供financial aid。而這些藝術的傳承者也要努力create new shows以不斷的創新來adapt to the modern tastes。
