(2) avoid 避免,回避;后接名詞、代詞或v. –ing, avoid doing sth. 避免做某事。

2. Every time I open my mouth, I put my foot in it.
每當我張嘴，我就會說錯話。
(1) put one's foot in it, it指代前面的mouth; put one's foot in one's mouth意思是“說錯話，失言，犯使人難堪的錯誤”。
If you keep your mouth shut, you will never put your foot in it.
假使你不開口就決不會說錯話。
(2) every time在句中作連詞，引導時間狀語從句。
可以用作從屬連詞的名詞或名詞詞組有：
①由“不定代詞+time”：each time, every time(每一次,每當)，any time(任何時候)等。
②由“介詞+time”：at the time(在……時候)，by the time(到……時候)等。
③由“序數詞/形容詞+time”：the first time(第一次)，last time(上次)，next time(下次)等。
④由“the+瞬間動詞”：the moment, the instant, the minute(一……就……)等。
⑤由“the+時間名詞”：the day, the week, the month, the year, the spring, the summer, the autumn, the winter等。
