一、含義上的區別
用作動詞時，兩者均可表示“治療”，但含義有所不同：cure通常強調結果，指治愈某種疾病或某人的疾??；而 treat則通常強調過程，指對病人進行診斷和治療，但不含治好的意思。比較：
A few days' rest will cure you. 休息幾天你的病就好了。
This medicine will cure your cough. 這藥可治好你的咳嗽。
The dentist is treating my teeth. 牙科醫生在給我看牙。
Is he able to treat this disease (the wound)? 他能治這病(傷)嗎?
二、搭配上的區別
注意以下兩句 cure和 treat所搭配的介詞不同：
The doctors cured her of cancer. 醫生治好了她的癌癥。
Which doctor is treating you for your illness? 哪個醫生在給你看病?
有時用于引申義。如：
Parents try to cure their children of bad habits. 父母設法糾正孩子們的不良習慣。
三、詞性上的區別
cure表示“治療”時，除用作動詞外，還可用作名詞。若表示“對……的治療”或“治療……的方法”，一般用介詞 for。如：
Is there a certain cure for cancer yet? 迄今癌癥有無有效的治療方法?
Scientists have so far failed to provide a cure for the common cold. 科學家們到目前為止還沒有找到一種治療普通感冒的方法。
注：treat表示“治療”時，不能用作名詞，它的名詞形式是treatment。如：
I'm sure this treatment will help him (to) be cured. 我相信這種治療將有助于他痊愈。
The lorry crashed into a queue of people, several of whom had to have hospital treatment. 卡車沖進了一隊人群之中，其中有幾個不得不住院治療。
