3月29日，在科特迪瓦首都阿比讓的烏弗埃－博瓦尼體育場，人們將一名死者抬走。科特迪瓦內政部長塔戈羅證實說，在29日進行的世界杯和非洲國家杯預選賽科特迪瓦隊主場對陣馬拉維隊的比賽開始前，由于賽場內發生意外踩踏事件而造成了至少19人死亡，132人受傷。
On March 29th, people carried away a corpse from Houphout---Boigny stadium in Abidjan, capital of Cote d'ivoire. The minister of Department of Interior of Cote d'ivoire confirmed that, before the preliminary of World Cup and African National Cup with Cote d'ivoire against Malawi on March 29th, the trample accident in the field claimed at least 19 victims and 132 injured.

The match was being held in Houphout---Boigny stadium in Abidjan, with as many as nearly 50,000 spectators watching the match. It is said that the accident was aroused by the unexpected collapse of the enclosing wall of the stadium, resulting the trample when the nearby audience tried to stampede from the field. It was stated that the surrounding of the stadium has returned to normal at the present.
