2008年12月22日，浙江舟山，我國自主設(shè)計、建造的首艘大型專業(yè)醫(yī)院船，也是世界上第一艘大型專業(yè)醫(yī)院船---866岱山島船命名授旗，開始在海軍服役。

866岱山島船的交付使用，結(jié)束了我海軍沒有大型制式醫(yī)院船的歷史，標志著我國海上應急裝備體系建設(shè)取得了重大突破，使我國成為世界上少數(shù)幾個具有遠海醫(yī)療救護能力的國家之一。

　 866岱山島船醫(yī)療設(shè)施完備、裝備先進、功能完善。船上有CT室、DR室、特診室、特檢室、口腔診療室、眼耳鼻喉診室、藥房、血庫、制氧站、中心負荷吸引(真空)系統(tǒng)和壓縮空氣系統(tǒng)等醫(yī)療保障系統(tǒng)；配設(shè)多個手術(shù)室和護士站；設(shè)有重癥監(jiān)護病床(ICU)、重傷病床、燒傷病床、普通病床、隔離病床等各類病床數(shù)百張；船上還設(shè)有遠程醫(yī)療會診系統(tǒng)；飛行甲板面積近千平方米，可供多種型號的直升機起降；配有多部特殊規(guī)格的電梯，供傷員轉(zhuǎn)運使用。硬件設(shè)施相當于陸上三甲醫(yī)院。

866岱山島船的主要使命任務：擔負戰(zhàn)時海上傷病員救治和醫(yī)療后送任務；海上衛(wèi)勤支援；駐島礁部隊醫(yī)療保障及醫(yī)學科研；國際維和、人道主義救助、重大災難應急救援和撤僑護僑等。
