To solve problem, to taste happiness
“What is happiness?” is a cliché topic. Everyone has a different definition to the true meaning of happiness. For Franklin Roosevelt, “happiness is not the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.” For Elbert Einstein, “if you want to live in a happy life, tie it to the goal, not the people or the things.” Although the two great men grant different definitions to happiness, there is something in common, that is, happiness derives from the capacity to solve problems. I believe that this is true.
There is no denying that life is full of problems. Let’s take environmental pollution for example. Pollution poses a great threat to our existence. Fortunately, this public hazard has drawn our greatly attention and many effective measures are being taking to solve it. In fact, now the public are benefiting more and more from pollution prevention and control. We can enjoy clear air, health food and beautiful scenes again. Isn’t this happiness?
All in all, indeed, equipped with the ability to cope with problems should suppose to be happiness. In other worlds, in the middle of problems lies happiness.

On happiness
When it comes to the question “what does happiness mean to you?”, different persons may put forward various answers, some say that happiness is a life entirely free of trouble. While others hold the opinion that happiness is not the absence of problems, but lies in the course to copy with the difficulties. In my opinion, I am strongly in favor of the latter one.
For example, I am weak in spoken English in college, thus in every oral class I am always the silent one, let alone to communicate with my classmates. At that time, how miserable my life is! As time goes on, I gradually realize that I must change it. So I actively take part in English corner. I am not afraid of making mistakes, just in the hope of learning as much as possible from others. In the course of learning, I really get a sense of happiness.
Now I clearly know what happiness is, it is the kind of feelings which we obtain through the course of settling the problem, it is also the sense of achievement which requires us to make great efforts to deal with the trouble.
文都版3:
Happiness Depends on Solving Problems
There is a saying that happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them. Yes, if there are no problems, we will have no development, because the problem can lead us to think and to practice, which makes us develop further. If we have no development, we cannot have true happiness. Therefore, our happiness does not rely on the absence of problems but our ability to deal with them.
If we want to grasp true happiness, we should improve our abilities to deal with them. Now that the problems have appeared, firstly what we should do is not to ignore them but to pay our attention to them. Secondly, we should think about them and analyze what we can do to handle them. Thirdly, put our hands to the solving of the problems.
After you have solved the problems, you will feel very happy, as solving the problems brings you a feeling of achievement. Therefore, if we are encountered with problems in our life, welcome them and solve them. In the process of solving one problem after another, you will feel happier and happier.
文都版4:
To paraphrase our forefathers: Happiness is not the absence fo problems, but the ability to cope with them. The following examples can illustrate this viewpoint.
For example, Mandera, a well-known African political leader, suffers countless misery and faces a series serious problems. However, he is a happy man and easy to admire. Because he eradicates the inequality in Africa and makes a disproportionately contribution to African development.
Take a look around ourselves. The number of students who taking part in the entrance examinations for the postgraduate schools has swollen by about 11% every year. They confront with various problems including learning, psychology, and health. But they still are happy. Because with the help from WenDu the students can develop the ability to address all problems.
To ensure to develop this ability, you can do a lot. For instance, if you are reluctant to tackle problems, you can change thinking mode and eradicate pessimistic attitudes.
