4．因果參照型＋近義詞
??這是指在一句或兩句話中，要么通過"因"推出"果"，要么通過"果"推出"因"。這是利用語法關系去確定選項，如下列例句。
1）Some old people don’t like pop songs because they can’t＿＿so much noise．（1997年1月CET4）
A）resist?B）sustain?C）tolerate?D）undergo
??正確選項為C）。本句從don’tlike…，推出后邊的can’t tolerate，表示"不能容忍"的意思。
2）As a result of careless washing，the jacket＿＿to a child’s size．（1998年1月CET4）
A）compressed?B）shrank?C）dropped?D）decreased
??正確選項為B）。通過原因"acreless washing"推出正確選項 B）shrank，意思是"收縮"。注意四個選項中只有B）項表示"衣服縮水"的意思：其他各項的意思是：A）緊壓，壓縮；C）下降；D）減少。
3）Since the matter was extremely＿＿，we dealt with it immediately．（1998年1月CET4）
A）tough?B）tense?C）urgent?D）instant
??正確選項為C）。后半句中的副詞"immediately"可以推出前半句中的"urgent"（迫切的緊急的）。
5．轉折或反義與對比參照型
??這種類型題有的是通過轉折詞或反義詞、或對比詞來確定選項，有的是通過句中詞來確定選項中的轉折詞。
1）Even though he was guilty，the＿＿judge did not send him to prison．（1997年1月CET6）
A）merciful?B）impartial?C）conscientious?D）conspicuous
??正確選項為A）。讓步狀語從句中的guilty和主句的意思表明法官是一個"仁慈"的人。所以A）項正確。其他三項的意思分別是：B）正直的、公正的；C）有良心的；D）顯著的。
2）＿＿their differences，the couple were developing an obvious and genuine affection for each other．（1998年1月CET4）

??正確選項為B）。句中的their differences，obvious and genuine affection可確定選項中的轉折詞只能是for all，意思是"盡管"。

??正確選項為A）。通過轉折詞though和對比詞export與home market可確定選項為A），意思是"基本上"。其他三項都不符合句意。
