本句型是議論文中預測措施實施結果的句型，當然也可以用在書信等文體的恰當語境中。dependent意為“由…決定的”。如:
The company is dependent on government financial help.
這家公司依靠政府的財政援助。
本句型在替換的時候需要注意：介詞on與動詞depend以及它的形容詞dependent是固定搭配，因而不能隨意替換成其他介詞。此外，介詞on的后面應該接名詞或者名詞性短語。
