face up to :勇敢地接受或對付

face:

（1） 用于前置詞短語中作表示動作的動詞的狀語時，前置詞常用in

例：I looked him full in the face. 我直視他的臉。

表示在臉上的意思時，多用介詞on

例：with a smile on the face 面帶微笑

（2）用于面對某人某物或面臨某種境遇形勢，特別是困難的時候。

face up to 用于不但面臨困難，而且采取行動來克服它。

例：They faced up to the fresh problem with their usual courage and ingenuity.
