六、身份關系題
問題是關于對話中某個人物的職業身份或對話雙方的關系等。
提問方式通常為：
What’s the woman’s job?
What most probably is Mary?
What is the probable relationship between the (two) speakers?
What is the most probable relationship between Jim and Bob?
此類題型的解題技巧如下：
1.注意稱呼語。
對話中的稱呼語往往會直接暴露出說話人的身份或說話雙方的關系，比如Mr.一詞就表明對方很可能是自己的上級或老師。
2.捕捉關鍵詞及人物語氣。
解答這類試題，不但要熟悉體現某種人物關系或某種職業的相關詞匯，而且要注意說話人的語氣和態度，比如師生之間、夫妻之間、家長與孩子之間以及老板與員工之間的說話方式和語氣均有自己的特點。
3.常考職業身份
四級對話中常涉及的職業身份包括：
教授(professor) 秘書(secretary)
醫生(doctor) 老板(boss)
服務員(waiter/waitress) 主人 (host/hostess)
修理工(repairer, plumber, electrician…)
家庭角色(husband, wife, son, daughter, girlfriend…)
4.常考人物關系
四級對話中常涉及的人物關系包括：
夫妻(husband — wife) 父子(father — son)
母子(mother — son) 師生(teacher — student)
同學(schoolmate/ classmate) 同事(colleague)
老板與秘書(boss — secretary) 雇主與雇員(employer — employee)
醫生與病人(doctor — patient) 服務員與顧客(waiter/waitress—customer)
主人與客人(host/hostess — guest) 警察與司機(policeman — driver)
管理員與借閱者(librarian — reader) 房東與租房者(landlord/landlady — tenant)
