SAT（Scholastic Aptitude Test and Scholastic Assessment Test）被稱作學術能力測試和學術評估測試。許多美國大學都要求考生提供SAT的成績。SAT的目的是通過測試學生在高中學習的內容和他們的應試能力來衡量一個學生的學術潛力。SAT是一個多重選擇題考試，每個正確答案添加分數，每個不正確答案減分數。SAT也測試學生是否為了考試做了準備。學生對SAT考試準備得充分與否決定了學生的SAT分數，并決定學生所能申請的大學。
