Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling for greater legal efforts to be made in support of the prevention and control of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Chinese president is speaking of the need to improve legislation related to epidemic prevention and control at a meeting that was held on Wednesday. He says donated funds and goods should be distributed in time and in accordance with the law.
A number of documents which serve as the guidelines for epidemic control and relief work have been published.
Several officials in Hubei province, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, have been removed from their positions due to mishandling of donations and information.
The Chinese President has met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Xi Jinping reaffirmed China's confidence and capability to win the battle against the coronavirus.
Hun Sen reiterated Cambodia's support for China in combating the outbreak.
He also said Cambodia will continue to work with China.
Wuhan, the city hardest-hit by the new coronavirus, has set up more than 120 quarantine sites for patients confirmed or suspected to be infected with the novel coronavirus.
Local authorities say the quarantine sites can provide over 12,000 beds for infected patients.
The quarantine sites are open to people running a fever or have had close contacts with confirmed or suspected cases of coronavirus infection. Located in various parts of the city, the quarantine sites are converted from local public spaces such as gymnasiums and schools.
Apart from centralized quarantine, over 20,000 people in Wuhan are under home quarantine and observation.
The World Health Organization is urging some high-income nations to better share information in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also announced that a global research meeting will convene next week to identify research priorities in all areas of the outbreak.
Meantime, a team of international experts is heading to China to better understand and guide the global response against the outbreak.
The WHO chief also called on countries not to impose restrictions and vowed to counter rumors and misinformation during the outbreak.
So far, 99 percent of the virus cases are in China and 97 percent of deaths in Hubei province.
Chinese authorities have released this year's "No. 1 central document."
Agriculture, rural areas and farmers' issues remain the country's top priorities for the 17th consecutive year.
As the first policy statement released by China's central authorities each year, the document is seen as an indicator of policy priorities.
China is striving to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects this year.
This year's document calls for efforts to win the battle against poverty and strengthen areas of weakness concerning agriculture, rural areas and farmers.
U.S. President Donald Trump has been acquitted of both articles of impeachment.
It comes after the senate voted down the articles that the House approved late last year.
Republican Senator Mitt Romney broke from his party by voting in favor of convicting Trump over the abuse of power charge.
No Democrats voted against the two articles of impeachment.
The result was expected as Republicans control the Senate.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says his country will never endure unfair negotiations.
He made the remarks amid his country's tensions with the United States.
"We want to talk under a free climate in which our logic is dominant. And it is dominant, because we are right. The Americans want to make us surrender in unfair, unequal and humiliating negotiations. This is impossible."
Tensions between the two countries escalated last month after top Iranian general Qassim Soleimani was killed in a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad.
The U.S. also reinstated sanctions and introduced new ones on Iran after Washington withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018.
Iran announced the final steps to end its commitments under the deal, and retaliated with a ballistic missile strike on Iraqi bases housing U.S. troops.

One person has been killed and 150 have been injured after a plane slid off the runway at an airport in Istanbul.
A local official says bad weather is to blame for the accident.
Video footage shows that the front part of the aircraft was torn apart, and a fire also erupted.
Media reports say four Chinese citizens were among the passengers.
Rescue operations inside the plane are still ongoing, and the airport has reportedly been closed to air traffic temporarily.
