On the famous Huangshan Mountain in the eastern Anhui Province, visitors squeezed into every vantage point to get a glimpse at the first threads of light in the new decade. There were similar scenes in southwest China's Yunnan Province where thousands flocked to cooler mountain to capture the morning sun rising through a sea of cloud. And Still In Yunnan and in the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, the locals put out traditional beef hotpots and local wine for the many tourists in the area. Bonfires were also led for a night of dancing and merriment. Meanwhile there was a much faster pace in Shijiazhuang where thousands turned out for the northern city's annual New Year marathon.
