Iran's Revolutionary Guard is claiming to have seized a British-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. The British foreign office says it is urgently looking into the reports. It comes a day after the United States says it shot down an Iranian drone in the area. Tehran had previously threatened to seize a British vessel in retaliation for the detention of an Iranian tanker, off Gibraltar earlier this month.
The son of a senior New South Wales policeman has been found dead in Canada in a suspected homicide. The bodies of Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend were found on Monday on the side of a road in British Columbia. Two Australian detectives have been deployed to the country to assist with the investigation. The department of foreign affairs and trade is assisting the Australian man's family.
A strong earthquake has shaken the Greek capital Athens. Witnesses say the magnitude 5.1 quake sent people fleeing from buildings in panic. The epicentre of the quake was recorded north-west of the capital.
And this weekend marks 50 years since the United States won the race to put the first man on the moon. Around 650 million people around the world watched Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin make that historic giant leap in 1969.
