Americans are vulnerable because we have the face of the enemy. People are talking about trade war, cultural war even military war. Chinese Americans who have done so well in Silicon Valley are affected both because of the trade barriers and because of the immigration barriers.
We are on the eve of the 40th anniversary of normalization of relations between the United States and China, a moment when history was made. When the United States and China saw that they could change the world. And with China's rise now these two great nations with two powerful economies, with cultures that are admired the world over with these histories. By working together they could do so much more. And that's why Chinese Americans have a role to play.
