Now for the latest on the missing visiting Chinese scholar Zhang Yingying. A US federal grand jury has returned the indictment that charges 28-year-old Brent Kristensen for the kidnapping of Zhang. The preliminary hearing previously scheduled for July the 14th has been cancelled. Meanwhile, the date for arraignment for Kristin Christensen will be rescheduled.
The indictment alleges that Christensen kidnapped and held Zhang Yingying on June the 9th when Zhang was last seen on that day entering a black Saturn Astra. According to an affidavit previously filed with the court, the car allegedly driven by Kristensen had stopped next to her at an intersection in Champaign and then pulled away. Zhang has now been missing for more than one month and US law enforcement investigating the case believed she has died.
