At least 87,000 people were killed or declared missing in the disaster.
The earthquake left more people homeless than any other tremor in recorded history.
At least 4,800,000 people required shelter after their homes were destroyed.
However, the impact of the Sichuan quake was not only felt through the death toll-it also resulted in significant economic loss.
But Wenchuan has undergone tremendous reconstruction since 2008.
It is estimated about 885 billion Renminbi, or 137 billion US dollars have been spent on rebuilding the affected area.
