Securing growth, promoting stability top priority of G20 members, says Chinese president

Chinese President Hu Jintao says growth, employment and stability should be the top priorities of the G20 member countries.
In a speech to the G20 summit in Mexico, Hu Jintao is urging the leaders to strengthen cooperation, saying the global economy is facing significant risks to growth and stability.
Hu Jintao has cited the prolonged eurozone debt crisis, slowdowns in major developed and emerging economies, and high unemployment in certain parts of the world as some of the biggest threats to a fragile global recovery.
At the 2-day meeting, the G20 leaders have been focusing on the global economic situation, the strengthening of the international financial system, development, trade and employment.

The Canadian man accused of the grizzly murder of a Chinese national is back in Canada.
Luka Magnotta is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Montreal later on this Tuesday for the first-degree murder of 33-year old Lin Jun.
The native of Wuhan was murdered last month, with his corpse then cut up, parts of which were then mailed across Canada.
The murder and dismemberment of Lin was allegedly posted on-line by Magnotta, who then fled Canada before eventually being picked up in Germany.

The announcement has been made at the G20 summit in Mexico.
The G20 leaders have agreed to ensure the IMF is sufficiently capitalized to try to mitigate the risks posed by a downturn in the world economy.
The Chinese side says the recapitalization has to be based mainly on quotas, the details of which were hammered out back in 2010.
Fitch downgrades India's outlook to negative

Fitch has cut its outlook for India's economy to negative, saying the country's growth faces "heightened risks".
Fitch is warning India's growth potential "will gradually deteriorate if further structural reforms are not hastened".
It adds the government there has made little progress on reducing its deficit.
The downgrade comes just days after Standard & Poor's warned India could lose its investment grade status.
The Indian economy expanded at an annual rate of 5.3 percent in the first quarter, the slowest pace in nine years.

This follows his failure to appeal a previous conviction for contempt of court.
The Pakistani Supreme Court has also ruled President Asif Ali Zardari has to appoint a new prime minister.

The typhoon is currently pounding the western part of Japan, causing the cancellation of at least 100 train trips in the city of Osaka.

China's manned deep-sea submersible, the Jiaolong, has reached a depth of 69-hundred-65 meters below the sea during its second dive into the Mariana Trench.
The dive was supposed to take place yesterday, but had to be delayed because of an overhaul to a hydraulic system.
Last Friday, the vessel reached the 67-hundred meter mark during its first dive.
The Jiaolong is scheduled to attempt four more dives, with the overall goal to hit 7-thousand meters.
