China to maintain prudent monetary policy in 2012
China says it will maintain its prudent monetary policy and proactive fiscal policy next year.
At a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee chaired by President Hu Jintao, it was agreed that the country will make its policy responses more targeted, flexible and forward-looking next year.
The country also pledges to maintain control over the intensity, pace and focus of macroeconomic regulation and preset or fine tune policies in light of changes in economic development, according to a statement issued by the committee
At the meeting it was agreed that China will continue to balance efforts to "ensure stable and relatively fast economic growth, while adjusting the economic structure and regulating inflationary expectations next year."
The statement said the country will maintain its unswerving stance on the regulation of the property market next year to make the housing prices return to a reasonable level.

China continues to pursue peaceful development,opening-up: foreign minister

A Foreign Ministry spokesperson says China respects the choice of the Russian people, and supports Russia in proceeding along its chosen path in keeping with its own national conditions.
The Russian Parliamentary election was held on Sunday and the ruling United Russia, led by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, gained over 49 percent of votes, lost a constitutional majority in the new Duma but kept an absolute majority.

Climate change negotiators still locking horns in Durban

Sources say the hot talks might continue over night and results might be announced early morning or midday Saturday.

China calls for international cooperation in IP protection
China has called for international cooperation in a proactive and constructive manner in creating a favorable global environment for intellectual property (IP) protection.
The remark was made by Tian Lipu, Commissioner of China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) while attending the Britain-China IP Symposium, the first in its kind held between the two countries.
Tian Lipu said the symposium has provided a platform for the two countries to promote mutual understanding.
He called for further cooperation between the two countries in intellectual property protection.

China's property market predicts soft landing amid dropping housing prices, rising rent
China's housing market is expected to achieve a soft landing due to the effects that emerged from the government's strict house-buying limits, according to a think tank's report.
The Annual Report on Development of Housing Market in China (2010-2011), released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, says the dramatic rising trend of housing prices had been curbed preliminarily, with falls in both housing prices and sales.
On the basis of consolidating the current regulative achievement, the report says China will keep a generally strict housing policy, while small adjustments are expected to be made in some areas to "meet certain conditions," in order to realize the soft landing of the housing market.

Chinese province launches tourism marketing campaign in Singapore
The central Chinese province of Henan has launched a tourism marketing campaign in Singapore as a moving edition of ancient Chinese painting the Riverside Scene at the Qingming Festival was on exhibition in Singapore.
The tourism bureau of the Henan provincial government kicked off its campaign with a seminar that gathers the tourist agencies from Singapore as well as Henan province.

Chinese newspaper wins British media award

China Daily European Weekly, Europe's first English-language Chinese paper, has been awarded by a British anti-jargon group for its "clear communication of business news to a global audience."
The independent, self-funding group based in New Mills, High Peak, gave its International Media Award to China Daily European Weekly. It is the first time that a Chinese media has won the award.
China Daily European Weekly was launched in Britain and continental Europe in December last year. It now covers 38 countries in Europe.
