consequence是“結(jié)果，后果”的意思。與表示“事物最終結(jié)果”的result 不同，consequence是表示由于某種行為而弓|發(fā)的結(jié)果，而且consequence 較之result更i正式。如：’the result of the vote (選舉的最終結(jié)果)，the consequence of the decision (決定的后果)0在大多數(shù)情況下，兩者是可 以通用的，比如as a consequence和as a result都是固定短語，都表本“結(jié) 果”的意思。請看下面的例子：
