There is more living matter in a forest of giant conifers, than in any tropical rainforest,

but it's all contained within the trees.

These are as inedible as those in the Taiga,
針葉依然如北極針葉林那樣難吃,所以動(dòng)物仍然稀少，
so animals are still scarce, but they are present.

A pine marten. It's spring, the best time of year for a marten to find food.
松貂。春天是松貂找食的最佳時(shí)節(jié)。
Bird's eggs are a seasonal snack and for a short time, there's plenty of them
鳥(niǎo)卵是季節(jié)性的美餐,雖然數(shù)量眾多,只是不能長(zhǎng)時(shí)間享受。
Sometimes perhaps, too many.
有時(shí)候可能是太多了。
But to live here permanently, the marten needs a more reliable food source. Squirrels fit the bill.
要在這里常住，松貂就需要穩(wěn)定的食物來(lái)源。松鼠就是。
They thrive here on the pine cones and although these are also seasonal
松鼠以松果為食，雖然松果是季節(jié)性生長(zhǎng)的，
they can be stored and eaten throughout the year.
但可以貯藏起來(lái)吃一整年。
The squirrels are busy mating.
松鼠忙著交配。
Good news for the hunter. A distracted squirrel, is a vulnerable squirrel.
這是獵人的好消息。心煩意亂的松鼠就十分容易被抓住了。
But, this time, the amorous couple is safe.
不過(guò),這對(duì)情意綿綿的情侶十分安全。
There is a loner stocking his larder, who will be the easier target.
有一只正在他的儲(chǔ)藏室里美餐的松鼠，是更容易捕捉的目標(biāo)。
