Qian Zhongshu, a Chinese Literary scholar and writer,
錢鐘書，中國文學研究家、作家，
was born on the 21st November, 1910 in Wuxi, Jiangsu.
1910年11月21日出生于江蘇無錫，
He is known for his burning wit and formidable erudition.
以驚人的才智和博學著稱。
His achievement in literature, ancient learning，comparative literature,and Cultural Critique was dubbed the title of "Qian Xue".
他在文學、國學、比較文學及文化批評等領域都取得了巨大的成就，被冠以“錢學”的稱號。
Qian was accepted into the Department of Foreign Languages of Tsinghua University in 1929 because of his excellent performance in Chinese and English languages.
1929年，鑒于他出色的漢語和英語水平，錢鐘書被清華大學外國語學院錄取。
He graduated with honors four years later.
四年后，他以優異的成績畢業。
In 1935, Qian received government scholarship to pursue his studies at Exeter College, Oxford in Britain.

In the same year, he married Yangjiang, who was to become a successful translator and playwright.

After returning to China in 1938, he taught in many schools due to the unstable situation during the Second Sino-Japanese War.

In 1949, when the People's Republic of China was founded,he was appointed a professor in his alma mater Tsinghua University.
1949年新中國成立后，錢鐘書被母校清華大學聘為教授。
He was instated as the deputy director of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in his old age, and died at the age of 88.
晚年就職于中國社會科學院任副院長，并于88歲與世長辭。
After spending two years to study English Literature at Exeter College,Qian received his Bachelor of Literature.
