科學(xué)，是善還是惡
Science has brought many changes to the whole of society,
就我們所知，科學(xué)是整個社會發(fā)生了變化，
especially to our lives in recent years.
尤其是近些年來對我們的生活影響甚深。
And at the same time the debate regarding the good and evil effects of science
同時，關(guān)于生活的正面影響和負(fù)面效應(yīng)的爭論
has gained wide attention.
引起了廣泛的關(guān)注。
It is hardly too much to say
有一點怎么強調(diào)都不過分，
science is the most important factor in the progression of human beings.
科學(xué)是促使人類進步的最主要的因素。
The great develop- ments in the field of medicine
醫(yī)藥方面的重大發(fā)展
have served to lengthen our life expectancy,
使人類壽命得以延長。
and the discovery of better seeds and pest control
優(yōu)良品種的發(fā)現(xiàn)和蟲害控制
have worked to increase productivity levels in agriculture.

In transport,the railway,

modern ships jet planes and moter vehicles have made our lives

more and more comfortable

and have provided convenient tools for commercial development.

The computer,

which is considered to be the greatest invention of the 20th century,

is playing an important role in our daily life.
