Samsung has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene with a patent dispute.

The South Korean company has appealed a nearly $400 million judgment for illegal copying patented aspects of the iPhone's aesthetic.

Samsung added that none of the devices related to the ruling remain on the market.

The company's appeal also argues for the Supreme Court that a lower-court's ruling was over protective of Apple's patents and applied far too much compensation.

Samsung has already paid the sum, but seeks a refund should the nation's highest court rule in their favor.
