The Chinese proficiency competition "Chinese Bridge" tests student's skills in various aspects of learning what's often considered to be the most difficult language in the world.

100 contestants from 50 countries have made it to the final round. Aged between 18 and 52, these participants are students now studying in China, who are all deeply interested in Chinese culture.

But passion alone is not enough to impress the judges. The contestants need to be well aware of Chinese customs to be able to tackle the questions raised by the judging panel, which include renowned actor and host Qu Xianhe, and CCTV anchor Lang Yongchun.

"We are selecting contestants who are extremely good at the Chinese language. They also need to know the culture well. Then we need to see that you are also a very good presenter. You have to be better than the others in your reactions and other talents to stand out," judge Lang Yongchun said.

The competition is mainly open to international students now studying at Chinese universities. The show is due to be broadcast on CCTV-4's English channel from August 21.Tune in to see how well they speak Chinese.
