We have a way of asking if an important thing the speaker said was understood. Guess what it is. Let’s listen to the following mini situational dialogue to get the answer.
(Scene:It is about a fight by words between two lovers.)
A:Idon’t ever want to see you again. Is that clear?
B:Fine! Here is your engagement ring back.
Have you got the answer? It is "Is thatclear?"It is like asking “Did you understand what I said?” It’s similar to saying in Chinese——明白我的話了嗎？or 知道什么意思了吧。For two more examples:
Example 1:You' ll do as you' re told, is that clear ?（譯文：讓你怎么做就怎么做, 明白嗎?）
Example 2:You must behave yourselves, is that clear?（譯文：你得規(guī)規(guī)矩矩，明白了沒有？）
If someone asks you if you are clear about what he has said, you could answer like this——I ‘ve caught your drift. Let’s see another mini situational dialogue.
(Scene:It happens between a couple to discuss how to afford a house.)
A:In order to get enough money to buy a house, We’ll both have to get jobs and save our salaries. Is that clear?
B:I caught your drift. No need to teach me a lesson again.
Bear these phrases in your mind:in order to（為了），get enough money（得到足夠的錢），save one’s salary（節(jié)約薪水），teach sb a lesson（教訓(xùn)某人），no need to do something（沒必要做某事）。
Now please be active and answer my questions, finishing listening the two dialogues. For sure, I’ll tell you my questions. Myquestionsare as follows:
1.What does B ask A to do after A said he does not want to see her?
2.How can this couple get enough money to buy a house?
Listen to the following two dialogues carefully.
Dialogue 1:
A:I don’twant ever to see you again. Is that clear?
B:Fine! Here is your engagement ring back.
Dialogue 2:
