一.again：adv. 再，又
【詞語(yǔ)用法】
again同back的意思相近，但用法不同：
back與動(dòng)詞連用時(shí)，作為副詞，常指退回到前一個(gè)狀態(tài)，或是從與之前相反的狀態(tài)返回去，而again不可這樣說(shuō)。
Give me my watch back.
(NOT Give me my watch again.)
again與動(dòng)詞連用時(shí)，表示“重復(fù)，再一次”。
Can you play it again?
注意sell back和sell again的不同，前者是賣回給同一個(gè)人，后者是再次賣，賣給不同的人。
The bike you sold me is too small.
Can I sell it back to you?
If we buy this house and then have to move somewhere else, how easy will it be to sell it again?
當(dāng)動(dòng)詞本身指“退回，返回”的意思時(shí)，不可再用back，而可以用again加強(qiáng)“退回，返回”的意思。
Stefan can never return to his country (again).
在副詞+動(dòng)詞+介詞結(jié)構(gòu)中，back和again都表示“回到上一狀態(tài)”。
I stood up, and then I sat (back) down (again).
back可以用在動(dòng)詞和主語(yǔ)之間，而again則不可以。
Take back your money.
Count the money again, please.(NOT Count again the money.)
again and again或time and again指“反復(fù)地，頻繁地”，now and again指“有時(shí)，不時(shí)”，only now and again指“難得地”；
“as much again as”指“加百分之一百，加一倍”，而“half as much again as”指“加百分之五十，加一半”。
These shoes cost me as much again as the last pair I bought.
比起我上一次買的鞋，這雙的價(jià)錢貴了一整倍。
【例句用法】
1.Try again.
再試試。
2.It is as large again as that.
這比那個(gè)大一倍。(注意：as large again as是 ... 的兩倍，比 ... 大一倍)
3.Say that again, please.
請(qǐng)?jiān)僬f(shuō)一遍。
4.Please say that again.
請(qǐng)?jiān)僬f(shuō)一次。
二.help：v. 幫助，有助于，促進(jìn)，擅自拿取，（不）能防止或避免某事物 n. 幫助，援助，幫手，傭人，仆人 int. 救命！
【詞義辨析】
aid, assist, help,
aid: 正式用詞，指幫助他人脫離危險(xiǎn)或戰(zhàn)勝困難，著重強(qiáng)者對(duì)急需幫助的弱者的幫助。
assist: 強(qiáng)調(diào)在提供幫助時(shí)，以受助者為主，所給的幫助起第二位或從屬的作用。
help: 最普通用詞，含義廣泛。指一般性的或迫切需要的幫助，側(cè)重積極地為他人提供物質(zhì)、精神或其他方面的幫助。
【詞語(yǔ)用法】
help表示“幫助”時(shí)，后接不定式或賓語(yǔ)和不定式，但絕不不可接動(dòng)名詞。
This book will help (to) improve your English.
美國(guó)人常將句中的to可省略。
注意當(dāng)被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)helped被使用時(shí)，to一定不可省略。
You will be helped to improve your English.
help表示“避免”時(shí)，后接動(dòng)名詞，但是不可接不定式。
I cannot help thinking so.
cannot help同cannot but都表示“不能避免，不得不”，前者后接動(dòng)名詞，后者接沒(méi)有to的不定式。
I cannot help thinking so.
I cannot but think so.
第一句比第二句用法普遍。
在美國(guó)有cannot help but接不含to的不定式格式。
I cannot help but think so.
在美國(guó)，help還可表示為“傭工”，既可指單個(gè)，也可指多個(gè)。
His help is a young man.
他的幫傭是個(gè)年輕的男人。
All his help are young men.
他全部的幫傭都是年輕的男人。
with/without the help of others和with/without help from others屬于固定的搭配，注意介詞和the的存在；
help sb in/with sth表示“幫助某人做某事”。
【錯(cuò)句舉例與錯(cuò)句分析】
錯(cuò)句：The two girls were helping each other for the cooking.
糾正：The two girls were helping each other with/in the cooking.
翻譯：這兩女孩子互相幫忙做飯。
分析：help sb in/with sth表示“幫助某人做某事”。

1.Help yourself.
別客氣。
2.He's been helping himself to my stationery.
他未經(jīng)許可一直用我的文具。
3.He can't help having big ears.
他愛(ài)打聽別人的事。
4.There's no help for it.
實(shí)在沒(méi)辦法了。
