【詞語用法】
against用在fight，strive，struggle等詞后面，同with意思相同，不過against更強調一種困難中的反抗。
We fight for the weak against the strong.
作為介詞，against后接的賓語有時可省略。
He had intended to come but somehow decided against(it).

2.We have saved some money against our old age.

【詞義辨析】
describe, represent, sketch, picture,
describe: 側重指描述細節，給讀者或聽眾提供清晰的視覺圖像。
represent: 指有代表性或象征性地描述或講述。
sketch: 指快速地勾勒或概略地敘述。
picture: 著重能夠栩栩如生地把事物或場景等描繪出來。
【詞語用法】
describe有(用文字)描述的意思。例：describe a landscape（用文字來）描述風景。
【例句用法】
1.The falling star described a long curve in the sky.
流星在空中畫出了一道長長的弧線。
2.The police asked me to describe exactly how it happened.
警察讓我描述一下這事是怎樣發生的。
三.intend：vt. 想要，打算，意指
【詞義辨析】
intend, mean,
intend: 較正式用詞，但常用，指對未來的行動做出打算，并力爭實現。
mean: 口語多用，指懷有作某事的想法或希望得到某物，特別用于效果不好而動機良好的場合。
【詞語用法】
intend后面多接不定式，而少用動名詞，如I intend to go的格式比較常見；
當intend后面有賓語時，也多用不定式。
I intend him to do it at once.
我打算讓他立刻著手做這事。
當表達“打算的事未實現”的意思時，不用虛擬語氣，而僅需體現“打算”這個動作較早。
I had intended to come, but was prevented by the bad weather.
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句：Far better to leave the surfaces decently painted as they were originally intended.
糾正：Far better to leave the surfaces decently painted as they were originally intended to be.
翻譯：遠不如把表面適當地油漆一下，就像原來打算的那樣。
分析：不可用they were intended painted，而是they were intended to be painted。
