1、單詞不應該自己創造不合法的英語音節結構。例如，重讀音節不能夠以短松元音結尾，像/ i/, / e/, / æ/, / Λ/, / ɒ/和/ u/

ladder / ' læd. ə/ butter / bΛt. ə/
bottle / ' bɒt.l/ woman / ' wum. ən/
/ e/, / æ/, / Λ/ 和 / ɒ/不能接非重讀閉音節。
當一個輔音以一個音節開始的, / i/ 和 / u/像 / ə/可以接非重讀音節.

3、在復合的兩到三個單詞中，原詞的分界會被保留。像handwritten應該被分為/ hæn' drit. ən/而不是/ hænd' rit. ən/
