2 keep up
It means "to continue to do or pay regularly ". 意思是：繼續支付；繼續做。注意這個短語是指有規律的堅持繼續做某事，而不是之在一個時間段一直做某事。For example: If you don't keep up with your payment, you'll lose your house.如果你不繼續付款，你的房子就保不住了。記住了keep up with something 是繼續某事。We also can say it as "keep something up". For example:Well done! Keep it up.(Keep up the good work.) 干得好，繼續好好干下去。注意這里的用法是keep (something) up(something).如果是代詞，放于keep 和up之間，如果是名詞，可放于放于keep 和up之間，也可用于短語的后面。這個短與沒有動名詞keep up doing something的用法。

3 hold on
It means "keep something longer" 這個是繼續的意味，但準確的說來是堅持的意思，與go on和keep up所講的繼續的意思不同。. For example: She couldn't hold on longer and and fell into blackness, she drowned. 她再也堅持不住了，眼前一片漆黑，昏了過去。這有忍受的意思在里面。How much longer do you think we can hold on? 你認為我們還能堅持多久? If we want to say"堅持做某事"，how should we put it? Let's look at the sentence: A good man will hold on to his job. 有本事的人是不會離開自己的工作崗位的。Pay attention to the preposition "to"in this phrase "hold on to something".

4 stick out

5 carry on
It means "to continue doing something". 繼續做，堅持干。這是只在一個時間段不停的做某事。The uses of it is similar to go on-----carry on, carry on with something, carry on doing something. Look at the following example sentences: He is in hot water but he finds courage to carry on. 在水深火熱之中，他勇于堅持到底。They managed to carry on with their experiment in spite of difficulties. 他們不顧困難設法繼續完成了他們的實驗。He carried on peeling the potatoes. 他不停地削土豆皮。

6 keep on
It means "to continue doing something". 繼續做，堅持干。It completely equals to “carry on”. The uses of it is similar to go on—— keep on , keep on with something, keep on doing something.
