The newly released sci-fi film Source Code tells a story that is less about futuristic technology but more about how an ordinary character played by Jake Gyllenhaa deals with extraordinary circumstances. Well this is not the first time for Jake Gyllenhaa to star in such a sci-fi film.

Gyllenhaal has already starred in the blockbuster The Day After Tomorrow in 2004. But you will be more familiar with his film Brokeback Mountain. The film directed by Taiwan born director Ang Lee received rather complicated reactions for the theme homosexuality. But it won Gyllenhaal a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for the Academy Award.

Actually, for his father is a film director and his mother a film producer, Gyllenhaal had regular exposure to filmmaking. In fact he made his acting debut in the 1991 comedy City Slickers. Thought he got some chances in other films, his father seriously expressed that the son should go to university.

Then Gyllenhaal went to study eastern religions and philosophy in University of Columbia. But just until then did he realize his passion for acting. Gyllenhaal dropped out after two years to concentrate more on acting. Then after several films, including The Day After Tomorrow, Gyllenhaal landed safely on Hollywood.
