Excavation of Cao's tomb arouses interest in tourism
The discovery and excavation of Cao Cao's Mausoleum is generating a lot of interest. In Central China's Henan province, people are hunting for more information on the turbulent times of the great soldier and political leader. Let's take a look.
In Zhengzhou City, the provincial capital of Henan, local bookstores are being inundated with people wanting information on the life of Cao Cao. Among the popular titles are "The Romance of Three Kingdoms" and "Commentaries on the late Han Dynasty". Demand is outstripping supply and managers have had to order new titles from publishers.
In Xuchang, another ancient town of Henan province, tourists are flocking to historical sites from Cao Cao's time. His residence as prime minister and a training ground for soldiers have been particularly popular.
The surge of interest was largely inspired by the discovery of Cao Cao`s tomb in Anyang City. Cao Cao lived in the chaos and confusion of the Three Kingdoms era, some 18-hundred years ago. He controlled half the country`s territory, and was a major contender for the dominion of all of China.
As well as being a great soldier and politician, Cao Cao was also an accomplished poet and literary critic.
