oh,you're new to Sydney,then?
GEOFF:
Yes.I'm from Albury.
4TH PERSON:
Well,it,s first on the right.And Angel Place is in the second block,next to the bank.
GEOFF:

FINDING THE WAY 問路
向人問路和回到別人問路有好幾種比較普通的說法:
(Excuse me) Can you tell me where Angel Place is?
Sorry,I'm afraid I don,t know.
Do you know where Angel Place is?
Sorry.I don't.
Can you tell me how to get to Angel Place?
I'm not sure...no,sorry(I can't)
I'm looking for Angel Place. can you help me?
Yes,I can.It's off George Street.
And where's George Street?
It's the first(street) on the right.

主意:
*在問別人問題之前,也許需要說句話引起對方注意.可以說Excuse me,但不說Sorry.Sorry 這個詞用于道歉.不用來向人招呼.
*注意下列各組兩個問句不同的語序:
Where is Angel Place?(Where's Angel Place?)
Can you tell me where Angel Place is?
Where is she?
Can you tell me where she is?
Why are they laughing?
注意下列兩個問句不同的語序和用詞:
Where does he work?
Do you know where he works?
*向人問路不能一開始就問(And)Where George Street?這類問題.這樣問顯得突然,甚至粗魯,通常要在前面加個
套語Can you tell me 等.
*答句 It's the first(street) on the right中,street可以省略,因為前面的問句里已經提到這個詞了.

CONVERSATIONAL DEVICES
a) Let me see 讓我想想.在回答別人的問題以前說這句話是想留出一點時間來考慮一下.
b) I'm with you 我知道了;我聽著呢;我挺清楚了; 22

RONUNCLATLON CORNER
a) Can只是在簡短的回答里重讀,即讀作,單獨念時也可重讀.此外不需要重讀,讀即可.例如:

b) 下面問句中有兩點值得注意:
can you tell me how to get to the Angel Place?
(i) 問句的節奏,以重音符號標明.清練習一下.一邊讀,一邊打拍子.
(ii)To的不同發音: To后面的詞以元音開始,to讀做同時再加一個連接音.練習下面的詞組,注意這個連音.
