臉上的表情是最豐富的。如果有人告訴你pull a long face 你會(huì)作何聯(lián)想呢？中文不是有“拉長(zhǎng)臉”一說嗎？在英文里，pull a long face 即指“耷拉著臉，愁眉苦臉”。光是pull a face 也可以表達(dá)這個(gè)意思，因?yàn)?pull 本身就有“拉長(zhǎng)”的意思，想來人不高興的時(shí)候臉都很長(zhǎng)吧。例如：Lyle is 14, but he's still a boy. He pulls a face when he's upset.

但是pull a face 不僅限于“拉長(zhǎng)臉”哦，廣義上它可以指“contort the face to indicate a certain mental or emotional state扭曲臉部以表示一種情緒”，既可以表示不高興時(shí)的“長(zhǎng)臉”，也可以表示高興時(shí)的“鬼臉”，這里它就相當(dāng)于“make a face”了，例如：Chad made a face at me and stuck out his tongue. 但是要注意，make a face 也有表示“不高興”的意思哦：'I hate pepperoni pizza!' he said, making a face.

表示“愁眉苦臉”還可以用grimace，可能人們不高興的時(shí)候臉常會(huì)扭曲吧：He grimaced when he saw the amount of homework he had to do.
