abandon ~ accent

   At times I like to abandon my ability to speak and write in an academic way, which my friends call an abuse of language. When I am about to go aboard a plane to go abroad, I often still think about this. At these times I am so absent-minded that I almost miss the call for "all aboard". In another every word. Instead, I aim for clear and simple communication to help others absorb what I am saying. This is not easy since I like to abuse language and always try to use the full range of language to the best of my ability. However, I think that one can abandon oneself to new experiences when overseas without treating one's training with abandon. It has also been suggested that I get rid of my strong accent, and my absence from my country might accelerate this change. In the meantime, I'll think of ways to use Band 4 words, in concrete ways, rather than in the abstract. Readers can then abstract what suits them best, from the book, towards developing absolute faith in their ability to master English.

   有時(shí)候我希望放棄用學(xué)術(shù)語(yǔ)言說(shuō)話和寫作的能力，我的朋友說(shuō)這是對(duì)語(yǔ)言的濫用。當(dāng)我準(zhǔn)備上飛機(jī)去國(guó)外的時(shí)候，我還經(jīng)常在想這個(gè)問(wèn)題。每到此時(shí)我想得如此出神，以致差點(diǎn)沒有聽到“請(qǐng)登機(jī)”的廣播。在另外一個(gè)國(guó)家，與其他大學(xué)教師交談時(shí)我通常不使用抽象的語(yǔ)言，并且盡量不重讀每個(gè)詞。相反，我的目標(biāo)是用簡(jiǎn)單明了的語(yǔ)言，以便別人能吸收我說(shuō)的話。這并不是件易事，因?yàn)槲蚁矚g濫用語(yǔ)言并總是試圖盡自己最大努力最大限度地使用語(yǔ)言。不過(guò)，我想一個(gè)人在海外時(shí)不妨讓自己沉溺于新的體驗(yàn)，只要不過(guò)于放縱而損于修養(yǎng)。還有人勸我改掉濃重的口音，而我離開本國(guó)的外出期可能會(huì)加快這個(gè)改變。同時(shí)，我還要想辦法使用四級(jí)詞匯，要用具體而不是抽象的方式，這樣讀者就可以從書中摘取最適合自己的信息，從而對(duì)自己掌握英語(yǔ)的能力樹力絕對(duì)的信心。
