My goodness!

（我 的 天 呀 ！）

My goodness！是感嘆句，用于某些令人驚訝或感嘆的情況下。若根據字面的意思，goodness好象與"天"無關，但實際目goodness是用來代替Heavens。現在讓我們看看在日常生活中如何運用這傳意精句。

A moment of life

When Mrs.Wong came home,she didn' t see anybody in the living room or the bedroom. Opening the bathroom door ,she saw her two-year-old daughter reaching into the toilet bowl and playing with the dirty water. She screamed，

"My goodness!"

Her voice was so sharp and strong that her daughter stopped at once and started to cry.

Learning point:

home在這里是副詞,所以came之后不需要有介詞,類似的例子有stay home 和go home。

start之后可接不定詞(infinitive)或動名詞(gerund),故這里用started to cry或started crying都是正確的。

黃太太回到家中，在客廳和臥室都不見一人，當她推開浴室門時，卻看見兩歲的女兒將手伸入馬桶內戲水，她被嚇得尖叫起來："我的天啊！"尖叫聲雖制目了小女兒的行為，卻令她大哭起來。
